live in concert
when I saw the big yellow the roots poster hanging there in a window on k rd, I went straight to real groovy to get my ticket. with the saucy price of $75, I overdraft my account, but it turned out to be more than worth it and one of the best live acts I have seen.
More than 2000 fans went off, when south philly?s finest appeared on stage. black thought entered, all g?d up, followed by the rest of the band with a wide range of instrumental equipment?this was going to be good?there was no need for the crowd to warm up, the theatre was on heat from the first to the last track. two special guests supported the roots, a brooklyn guitarist, who definitely was a pro at what he was doing with that guitar, and a female vocalist, who added a special flavour with her amazing voice. the show was filled with a mixture of their latest songs and of course ultimate classic hits like the seed 2.0 and you got me weren?t missing. In between they played tunes by more recent artists. classic hiphop tracks from old snoop dogg, busta rhymes, nelly and grandmaster flash. every member on stage was introduced and proved their talent with a solo. The audience was raging and did not take a break. their inputs of saxophones, bongos, bass, drums, keyboards aso. made every single track unique. Now and then they brought in little skits, which is only possible with a live band. you knew straight away, they weren?t new at this. black thought yells out drop this shit make my people wanna jump, jump - the theatre was jumping and screaming?time to say goodbye. two and a half hours later, the band thanks everyone for coming and invite to the after party at rising sun.
I would call it art of live performance; they definitely defend their name as best live hiphop act. they are the ultimate and rock rock at it.
